After paying a large bill at a bar in Rajouri Garden during a date with a woman he met on Bumble, a 25-year-old man from Delhi became a victim of a well-known scam. After a brief visit to the washroom, he returned to find the bill missing, and his date eager to depart. It wasn’t until he reached home that he realized the extent of the scam as the woman vanished from the dating app and ceased responding to his calls.
This deceptive practice is not isolated, as discussions on platforms like X reveal a pattern of similar incidents. The victim shared reviews of the bar on a thread, exposing the fraudulent activities. A cautionary review warned others, stating, “Please ignore going to this place and your friends also for the same. They are doing scams here…”
Another user had previously shared a similar experience on July 30, shedding light on the scamming nexus in Rajouri Garden. He recounted being lured into a meeting through a dating app, only to be handed an exorbitant bill for items that should have cost significantly less. Confronting the staff proved futile as they were unwilling to assist.
These incidents underscore the importance of vigilance in online interactions and the need for heightened awareness regarding potential scams, particularly in social settings like bars and restaurants.
